Hitachi Vantara & Index Engines launch AI data recovery service

Tue, 7th Oct 2025

Hitachi Vantara and Index Engines have announced a partnership to deliver an artificial intelligence-powered solution aimed at ensuring rapid and guaranteed clean data recovery for enterprises facing cyber threats such as ransomware.

The collaboration integrates Index Engines' patented CyberSense technology with Hitachi Vantara's Virtual Storage Platform One Block (VSP One Block) infrastructure. The companies are offering a data resilience solution that promises to restore unaffected data at speeds up to twice as fast as established alternatives, with a service-level agreement (SLA) guaranteeing 99.99% accuracy in data corruption detection.

AI-driven detection

The joint offering focuses on quick detection and recovery of clean data through CyberSense's machine learning algorithms. The technology analyses immutable snapshots of data in real time, identifying the signs of ransomware-driven corruption and supporting instantaneous restoration while reducing the risk of reinfection.

Jim McGann, Chief Marketing Officer at Index Engines, commented on the significance of reliable recovery in current risk environments.

"Cyber resilience is no longer optional; it's mission-critical. By combining CyberSense's patented ML model and 99.99% accuracy in ransomware corruption detection with Hitachi Vantara's enterprise-grade data resilient infrastructure, we're delivering a turnkey solution that dramatically reduces downtime, data loss, and provides confidence during recovery."

Market expansion

The partnership is seen as a step forward for both companies in addressing the needs of highly regulated industries such as finance, healthcare, and government. These sectors are facing increasing regulatory demands and operational risks, including rising threats of data breaches and ransomware attacks. The new solution is described as being designed to align with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Cybersecurity Framework, providing a compliance-ready approach across detection, protection, response, and recovery.

For Index Engines, the partnership provides access to new segments of the USD $150 billion-plus global cybersecurity market through Hitachi Vantara's existing enterprise customer base. For Hitachi Vantara, the integration of CyberSense enhances the resilience and automation of its core storage platforms.

Customer benefits

According to the press release, enterprise customers can expect up to twice the recovery speed of alternative solutions, substantially reducing downtime. CyberSense's detection capabilities have been validated by ESG testing, and the solution guarantees recovery of clean data in as little as 30 seconds per snapshot. Other benefits highlighted include support for existing IT investments, improved threat detection without the requirement for constant software updates, and reduction of reinfection risks by leveraging AI-validated immutable snapshots.

The companies emphasised the importance of these advantages for sectors where data integrity is directly linked to business continuity. The need for rapid and reliable data restoration following cyber attacks or technical disruptions has become central to operational risk management strategies in fields with high regulatory obligations.

Octavian Tanase, Chief Product Officer at Hitachi Vantara, outlined the broader aims of the partnership.

"Businesses today face unprecedented pressure from cyber threats, regulatory demands, and IT complexity. This partnership streamlines enterprise risk reduction with trusted, intelligent cyber infrastructure that goes beyond traditional data storage - it's a complete cyber resilient solution that guarantees data availability, resilience, and efficiency. We're providing our customers with confidence that their data is not just stored, but always protected and recoverable."

Technology and support

The foundation of the collaboration rests on Index Engines' experience in data integrity and cyber resiliency, with its AI technology reportedly in use for scanning over five exabytes of data daily across more than 1,600 organisations. Hitachi Vantara's global scale and infrastructure support are also positioned as central to the reliability and scalability of the joint offering.

Both companies state that their integrated solution will support business continuity in the event of sophisticated cyber-attacks, allowing midsize and large enterprises to restore critical data rapidly while maintaining compliance with industry regulations.
