Yesterday

Zoom has announced a suite of new AI-driven features and enhancements to its platform, focusing on elevating productivity and user experience.

The company has introduced the AI Companion, a set of AI skills and agents integrated across its platform, including Zoom Meetings, Zoom Team Chat, Zoom Docs, Zoom Phone, and Zoom Contact Center. These advancements intend to utilise reasoning and memory to take action and orchestrate tasks on behalf of users.

Smita Hashim, Chief Product Officer at Zoom, commented, "AI Companion is evolving from a personal assistant to being truly agentic, which signals a major leap forward in how AI can enhance productivity and collaboration at work. We're delivering value for our customers through AI agents and agentic skills that solve real customer problems, helping them connect, collaborate, and get more done, all within the Zoom platform our users trust and love."

The new AI features include 45 innovations aimed at enhancing the capabilities of existing Zoom tools. Enhancements in the Zoom Meetings platform include improved AI-generated agendas and live notes, while Zoom Docs is set to integrate advanced writing assistance.

Steven Carroll, Chief Information Officer at Saint Leo University, has observed significant improvements through the utilisation of Zoom's AI capabilities. He stated, "We've been using Zoom AI Companion since it became available, and I've seen firsthand how it has transformed our academic and administrative operations. This technology isn't just about efficiency; it allows our employees to spend less time on manual tasks and more time on meaningful collaboration, and focus on what matters most: supporting our students' educational journey."

Moreover, Zoom is enhancing its customer experience offerings with the introduction of advanced AI features in its Zoom Virtual Agent. These improvements include voice and chat capabilities expected to be available to select customers on a beta basis later in the spring.

The Custom AI Companion add-on will be another key feature, allowing organisations to tailor the Zoom AI Companion to specific needs using the AI Studio. This add-on is slated to be made available in April, with subsequent features like the personal AI coach expected in June.

With the open platform, Zoom will also enable users to interact with third-party agents, such as ServiceNow AI Agents, offering extensive customisation in meeting unique business needs.

In terms of industry-specific solutions, Zoom Workplace for Frontline and Clinicians is designed to facilitate communication and workflow management for particular work settings, reinforcing Zoom's efforts to tailor its offerings to specific industry needs.

Zoom aims to continue supporting customers with AI-first solutions, designed to improve productivity and strengthen customer relationships. This commitment is highlighted by the introduction of new generative AI advancements in the Zoom Contact Center, which empower both customer service agents and self-service interactions while maintaining human connections.
