StructureFlow expands with acquisition of Blue J Diagramming

Yesterday

StructureFlow, a visual modelling platform for legal professionals, has acquired Blue J Diagramming to expand into the tax and accountancy sectors, incorporating an array of specialised tax diagram templates into its platform.

With the acquisition, StructureFlow aims to address the increasing complexity in corporate tax structures, especially in light of evolving regulations and the rise of cross-border transactions. This brings StructureFlow's technology to a broader range of professionals, doubling its customer base as it welcomes users from Blue J Diagramming.

Tim Follett, CEO of StructureFlow, explained how the acquisition aligns with the company's mission to simplify complex structures for professionals. "Accountancy and tax professionals, like legal professionals, constantly grapple with incredibly complex structures and transactions," he remarked.

Follett continued, "Globalization, increasingly complex tax regulations, and the inherent challenges of managing intricate corporate relationships are driving demand for tools that can simplify, clarify, and streamline tax planning and compliance."

"StructureFlow was built to cut through that complexity. This acquisition gives tax and accountancy professionals a powerful, collaborative platform to visualize even the most intricate matters. It empowers them to work more efficiently and make better-informed decisions," he added.

StructureFlow, which facilitates the creation of group structure charts, transaction step plans, process maps, and timelines, has integrated Blue J Diagramming's over 300 specialised tax diagram templates. This integration is intended to enhance the user experience by speeding up the creation of structured diagrams, thereby improving efficiency and accuracy.

The company's platform offers seamless data integration from common formats and features tailored sharing options, enabling professionals to embed structures into client-facing documents quickly and collaborate within the platform to exchange feedback. Firms such as Holland & Knight, Linklaters, and Norton Rose Fulbright have benefited from using StructureFlow's tools to convert complex data into interactive visuals for effective communication and insight generation.

The strategic acquisition follows StructureFlow's USD $6 million Series A funding round in 2024, which supported product development and international expansion efforts. It also marks StructureFlow's extension of its substantial presence in the North American market, advancing beyond its traditional legal and corporate finance domains.

Benjamin Alarie, CEO of Blue J, commented, "As Blue J sharpens its focus on revolutionizing tax research through AI, we wanted to ensure our diagramming customers would be served by a leader in visualization technology. StructureFlow's exceptional platform represents the future of how tax and accounting professionals will map complex structures and transactions. Its innovative approach to visual modelling, combined with its deep understanding of professional workflows, made it the clear choice to take forward our diagramming business."

"We're confident our customers will benefit tremendously from StructureFlow's cutting-edge technology and its dedicated focus on advancing the field of professional visualization tools," Alarie concluded.

The acquisition strategy highlights the growing need for sophisticated, data-driven solutions within the tax, legal, and financial industries. StructureFlow's enhanced platform aims to streamline professionals' ability to visualise, analyse, and communicate intricate tax and corporate structures effectively.
