TransmetriQ launches intermodal tracking for seamless freight ETA

Tue, 29th Jul 2025

TransmetriQ has announced a new ocean-to-rail visibility solution designed for seamless tracking of containerised freight from the port of origin to the final rail destination in North America.

The new system integrates GPS-based vessel data, artificial intelligence-driven estimated time of arrival (ETA) modelling, and centralised event reporting, drawing information from 41 shipping lines, 6,000 ports, and over 600 railroads across North America.

Addressing longstanding challenges

Organisations moving goods between ocean vessels and North American railroads frequently face difficulties caused by fragmented systems, inconsistent status updates, and unreliable ETA information. TransmetriQ's visibility platform seeks to provide a single source of insight, regardless of carrier, mode, or geographic region.

"Shippers are tired of chasing data across systems, comparing inconsistent statuses, and relying on outdated estimates," said Danny Dever, Senior Product Manager, TransmetriQ. "With our seamless ocean and rail visibility solution you can track by vessel or container, spot delays in real time, and trust your ETA - with accuracy improvements of up to 75% compared to typical industry estimates."

The solution aims to address several specific pain points commonly cited within the logistics industry. These include inaccurate ETAs that can delay downstream operations, a lack of unified tracking that often results in the manual reconciliation of information from multiple sources, and difficulty identifying when shipments are dwelling at terminals or ports.

Additionally, TransmetriQ's platform extends tracking capabilities to include vessel-based monitoring, which has previously been a gap for many shippers and logistics providers.

Operational benefits

The capabilities of the new solution include predictive insights designed to dynamically recalculate ETAs as shipments progress, providing greater accuracy than traditional manifest-based data. Users receive real-time latitude and longitude coordinates for containers, with detailed routing information to the next port or terminal.

By harmonising event reporting across both ocean and rail carriers, TransmetriQ's system generates common, simplified updates that can be understood regardless of the original data source. This event harmonisation removes the need for time-consuming, multi-system traces, enabling logistics teams to find and act on relevant shipments within seconds - either by vessel or container identifier.

"This launch reflects our commitment to solving the real operational problems our customers face daily," said Mika Majapuro, Vice President-Product Management, TransmetriQ. "International shippers need a complete, trustworthy picture of where their freight is regardless of transportation mode - down to the coordinates, route, and predicted arrival time."

Availability and reach

TransmetriQ's seamless ocean-rail visibility solution is now available to beneficial cargo owners (BCOs), freight forwarders, logistics providers, and intermodal customers. Coverage spans from the port of origin through to the rail destination, supporting search and tracking by both container and vessel ID. The company reports that its enhanced ETA accuracy can improve upon typical industry estimates by up to 75%.

By combining event data from a diverse set of carriers and geographies, the platform aims to reduce operational overheads and increase confidence in intermodal shipment planning.
