DataCentreNews marks 12 years of global industry coverage

DataCentreNews is celebrating its 12th year in 2026, marking more than a decade of specialist reporting on data centres, cloud infrastructure and the technologies supporting digital services.
The publication was launched in Asia in September 2014 and became TechDay's first title established outside Australia and New Zealand. Its early focus was on the rapid development of data centre markets across Singapore, Hong Kong and the wider pan-Asia region.
Since then, DataCentreNews has expanded into a network of regional editions covering major markets including India, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada and the United States.
Origin story
"DataCentreNews started in Asia and became the first TechDay publication to take our coverage beyond Australia and New Zealand. It gave us the opportunity to build a specialist publication around a sector that was already becoming central to the region's digital economy," said Sean Mitchell, Publisher, TechDay.
The Asia edition helped establish TechDay's regional publishing model. It combined local market reporting with coverage of international developments affecting data centre operators, cloud providers and enterprise technology buyers.
Today, the Asian publication has over 63,561 weekly page impressions and across the regional editions we have over 31,981 stories published so far.
Editorial focus
Its coverage initially centred on data centre construction, colocation, storage, networking, disaster recovery, power and cooling. The editorial scope has since broadened to include hyperscale infrastructure, artificial intelligence workloads, data sovereignty, energy constraints, semiconductors and infrastructure financing. Even more recently the environmental impact of Data Centres.
"Over 12 years, the sector has changed significantly, and our role has remained focused on giving industry decision-makers clear and relevant reporting. As infrastructure requirements become more complex, readers need coverage that explains the business, technical and regulatory factors shaping each market," said Mitchell.
The future
The 12-year milestone marks the continued development of a publication that began with an Asia-focused audience and grew into an international specialist news network serving the global data centre industry across both established and emerging infrastructure markets worldwide today.
"Our next phase is to establish separate editions for the Middle East and Africa. Ensuring our DataCentre coverage is even more global over the next decade," said Mitchell.
