Tricentis acquires Tabnine to boost AI quality context

Tricentis has acquired Tabnine, adding Tabnine's Enterprise Context Engine to its Agentic Quality Engineering Platform.

The acquisition is intended to give Tricentis's AI quality and testing agents a broader view of the software environments used by large organisations. Enterprise AI systems often struggle because key information is scattered across code bases, documentation, support tickets, application programming interfaces and infrastructure records.

Tabnine's technology creates a continuously updated model of an organisation's software estate. That model helps AI agents understand relationships between systems, architecture patterns, governance rules and the potential effect of software changes across connected applications.

Tricentis is seeking to address a problem that has become more prominent as companies adopt autonomous software tools in development and testing. In complex IT estates, a lack of system-wide context can lead AI agents to make unreliable judgements, miss downstream effects or show misplaced confidence in release quality.

Context layer

According to Tricentis, the Enterprise Context Engine goes beyond document search by building a structured knowledge graph of enterprise systems. It extracts entities, dependencies and relationships from repositories, internal documentation, tickets, APIs and infrastructure metadata, creating what Tricentis describes as an intelligence layer for software teams and AI agents.

That layer will now sit within Tricentis's broader platform for agentic quality engineering. The combined setup is designed to improve how testing and quality agents assess risk, validate software and understand the consequences of changes before they are made.

Tricentis highlighted functions including dependency and impact analysis, continuous ingestion of organisational data, automated checks against architecture and coding standards, and shared memory across multiple agents working on quality tasks. The technology can also be deployed on premises, in a private virtual private cloud or in air-gapped environments.

Tricentis cited customer results from Tabnine's Enterprise Context Engine showing up to a two-times improvement in AI accuracy, up to 80 per cent lower token consumption and up to 50 per cent faster resolution of complex tasks. It said these gains can reduce false positives, cut missed defects and shorten testing cycles in large application environments.

Enterprise focus

Tabnine has been known primarily as an AI coding platform aimed at secure, context-aware software development in corporate environments. Its Enterprise Context Engine extends that approach by focusing on the wider software environment rather than only code generation or developer assistance.

The acquisition reflects a broader shift in the software market, as vendors try to move from narrow AI assistants to systems that can perform more autonomous work across development and testing. That shift has increased interest in tools that can map enterprise systems accurately and maintain awareness of business rules, software dependencies and technical constraints.

For Tricentis, the purchase adds another component to a platform it has positioned around AI-driven quality engineering. The company has been building tools for software testing and quality management across large organisations and said adding Tabnine's context technology strengthens the governance and orchestration already present in its platform.

Tricentis said it serves more than 3,000 customers, including Experian, T-Mobile, Jaguar Land Rover, Allianz, Telstra, Dolby and VodafoneZiggo. The company has been recognised by several analyst firms in software testing and quality markets, and recently cited IDC as naming it the worldwide revenue leader in automated software quality.
